This project required construction of building additions, renovations and installation of air conditioning systems at five schools on five separate campuses. The strategic challenges were (1) to plan and implement the work concurrently at all schools as required to meet schedule and budget limitations and (2) coordinate construction activities with day-to-day school functions (including re-routing of traffic), to ensure the safety and security of students/faculty/staff.
Northstar's project management plan included detailed meetings with school administration, teachers and maintenance personnel at each school to ensure a thorough understanding of operational and safety concerns. Work was accelerated during the summer and planned around class times and other activities during the school year to avoid disruptions and maximize safety. Integration of school activities into the construction plan and consistent communication resulted in a quality project that was completed on time and within the budget.
