Mercy Proton Therapy Addition Blessing & Ribbon Cutting

On Thursday, June 30th, at 5:00 pm Mercy Health Leadership and the Mercy Radiation Oncology Team conducted a Blessing and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, signaling the successful completion of the Mercy Proton Therapy Addition to the David C. Pratt Cancer Center on the campus of Mercy Hospital St. Louis.

The project team of Mercy, Northstar Management, McCarthy Builders, OWH Architects & MEVION Treatment Systems were able to deliver this highly technical build ON SCHEDULE and UNDER BUDGET.

Proton therapy uses high-energy beams of protons to precisely deliver radiation to a tumor, reducing or eliminating unwanted radiation exposure to surrounding, healthy tissue. There are only 37 proton centers in the United States, and Mercy will make this option available for patients pursuing both research options and traditional clinical care.

Leading the effort for Northstar was Shawn Bailey, Senior Project Manager and Chris Viviano, Project Director.   Congratulations to all on a successful project!
